CrossOver no.4: The Structure of Images

What is an image?? Do images have structure? How do you describe an image without falling into describing what is inside the image?

This CrossOver session is a discussion of Jean-Paul Sarte’s theory of the image. According to him, the word “Image” could only indicate the relation of consciousness to an object, or in other words, how the object appears to consciousness. The discussion also touched on the agency of the frame, and how does the absence of an expected object helps creating imaginaries and mental images.

The aim was to create a new lens for looking at images and revisiting Element, 2007 with a fresh eye.
